[Ultraman Tiga] Gatanothor, the cosmic kaiju responsible for destroying the ultra-ancient civilization 30 million years ago and the one who caused Ultraman Tiga the most suffering,
is now a 3D figure with extraordinary quality in size, quality, and design!

It has such an overwhelming impact that you’ll find yourself asking, ”Is this really a size that fits on a shelf?” This is the ”Gatanothor 'Ultraman Tiga' Daikaiju Series ULTRA NEW GENERATION FAVORITE SCULPTORS LINE.” Its extraordinary volume, with a total height of approximately 34 cm and a total length of approximately 62 cm, goes beyond the scope of a mere figure, radiating a presence that seems to dominate the space itself. Delivered as a pre-painted finished product, this item promises an experience where the ”darkness of that final battle” spreads before your eyes the moment you take it out of the box.
This work is part of the FAVORITE SCULPTORS LINE, which is based on the concept of commercializing garage kits by famous sculptors as finished products. The prototype was created by Kaiju Kojo. They have expressed the form of Gatanothor—sinister and grotesque, yet exuding a somewhat divine sense of intimidation—through thorough sculptural beauty. The undulating tentacles, the heavy texture of the body surface, and a silhouette whose impression changes depending on the viewing angle. The main body, tentacles, and pedestal, made of PVC material, have an uncompromising finish in every detail without losing the sense of immense scale. It is a sculpture where you feel not just that it is ”big,” but that there is a ”necessity for it to be huge.”
Gatanothor is the Evil God of Darkness that appeared in Ultraman Tiga Episode 51, ”The Master of Darkness,” and Episode 52, ”To Those Who Shine.” It appeared in the ultra-ancient city of R'lyeh, which surfaced in the South Pacific, and is described as the culprit that destroyed the ultra-ancient civilization 30 million years ago. With its overwhelming power, it cornered Ultraman Tiga and enveloped the world in the darkness of despair. This existence, which Yuzare called the ”Great Darkness,” was not just a kaiju, but could be said to be ”the end” itself, symbolizing the entire story. This figure is truly a piece that has encapsulated the memory of that decisive battle in 3D form.
Its name is derived from Ghatanothoa, a Great Old One appearing in the Cthulhu Mythos, and its motif is said to be Cthulhu itself. The setting of it appearing in R'lyeh also strongly reflects mythological elements. Furthermore, in the short story ”The One Who Walks the Abyss,” it was treated like a Great Old One, portrayed as an existence beyond the framework of a mere kaiju, such as foretelling its resurrection and manipulating messengers. Its place of origin is said to be R'lyeh, the place where it awakened, but considering the source material, its origins remain shrouded in mystery. Knowing this background, it’s strange how the 3D object before you feels less like an ”extension of setting materials” and more like a ”fragment of a myth.”
Although Gatanothor has the appearance of a kaiju, it is not merely an instinctive destroyer. It shows tactical behavior, such as attacking Dive Hangar with Shadow Mist to deplete the human side's military strength. From its behavior, one can gather that it is an existence with high intelligence. While gazing at its form as a figure, you will notice an expression and posture that makes you feel an intent to quietly cover the entire world, rather than just being a rampaging monster. A kaiju, yet an evil god. This duality further deepens the depth of this sculpture.
This size, this sculpture, and this thematic nature. Gatanothor might be closer to an ”existence to be confronted” rather than just a ”part of a collection.” The luxury of being able to experience at home that mighty darkness that stood before Ultraman Tiga. If you place it on a shelf, that spot instantly transforms into R'lyeh. To create a contrast between light and darkness, it might be good to intentionally display it alongside Tiga. By doing so, the tension of that final episode will quietly come back to life.
This product, which possesses a scale and narrative quality that transcends the realm of kaiju figures, can be called a piece that touches the core of the work ”Ultraman Tiga.” Please experience this symbol of darkness in your own space.
